Get active
Exercise makes you feel good and whoever you are there’s an activity that will suit you. Becoming fit doesn’t have to mean ‘going for the burn’ or pushing yourself to the limit. Just adding five minutes extra activity into your day will make a difference. Then you can gradually build your activity to an amount that suits your level of mobility and fitness and that makes you feel better.
Many activities are free and easy to start, like going out for a walk or a run, cycling, gardening or dancing: ideal if you feel self-conscious about your level of fitness or your body. But if you’d like extra support and help with motivation then organised classes and sports clubs might be for you: and they’ll give you a chance to make new friends. You could try team sports, yoga or aerobics.
