Coping With Life Application Form
Coping With Life courses are designed to help you make positive changes. Skilled and experienced facilitators run the courses using cognitive behavioural techniques, as recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.
Assertiveness skills
This course looks at reasons why many people have difficulties being assertive and will help you develop skills to handle criticism, say no and avoid being taken advantage of. The course looks at strategies to develop assertiveness skills and involves practicing skills with other group members.
Stress management skills
This course helps people identify the causes and effects of stress. You will learn practical skills such as time management, problem solving and relaxation techniques that will help you manage your stress more effectively.
Managing anxiety
This course will give you an understanding of what anxiety is and how it is maintained. The course looks at the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. You’ll learn how assertiveness, problem solving and relaxation techniques to help to reduce anxiety.
Managing depression
This course will give you an understanding of how thoughts, feelings and behaviour can work together to maintain depression. The course will help you identify strategies and develop skills that can start to change this cycle.
Managing your anger
This course helps people to identify what triggers their anger. Participants learn skills that will enable them to manage their anger in a different way. The course provides a chance to look at alternative ways of dealing with difficult situations.
Building self-esteem
This course helps participants understand how thoughts and beliefs can maintain low self-esteem. Participants learn and develop skills that will help change this cycle. The course introduces ideas on how to develop self-confidence and provides an opportunity to practice strategies that help to build and maintain self-confidence.
Please note: Coping with Life courses aim to help people learn and develop coping strategies for themselves and are not therapy groups. Therapy is available separately through Flintshire Talking Therapies.
